Art Update : Kyltania Sketch

It's been so long, I almost thought that I forgot how to draw...

Sketch done in Graphite Pencil.

This is Kyltania Dromedes, a very longstanding character of mine that I have role- played. She started out as a Morrowind character which Damien came up with the name for. For some time I RPed her in World of Warcraft as the town's evil sorceress, though over time she kind of developed into an anti-hero type personality. I've even tried to kill her off several times, however she became so well-liked by the other role players they insisted I keep her around. This is her most recent face which is partially disfigured. It's refreshing to play a very unattractive, yet confident character. The other side of her face and body is still marred up by magical rune scars that are ever-changing.

I am attempting to go for a more realistic feel to my drawings. Don't get me wrong, I love the comic work, however my portfolio needs more variation. Just a few things to prove that "I can do this."

People are horribly biased to you when all they see is comic work, they don't seem to think you can draw realism. They don't realize that in order to do good comic work you also need a good background in realism as well. It's also the same way with digital vs. traditional art. Some people don't even consider it art as they are either afraid of computers or don't know how to use them. You don't just press a button and a great picture pops up--it takes a ton of skill!

It's a little intimidating attempting to draw again after putting it down for several years, however I am enjoying it profusely.

Apple... >:(

Feel my nerd rage! Until you make a fix for that stupid error that keeps popping up, consider your software uninstalled. There is nothing worse when you are in the middle of Photoshop doing very intricate, detailed work or healing in a Warcraft Raid when this error pops up every couple of minutes.

"DotMac Sync Client has stopped working."

I have searched fruitlessly for hours on Google and your forums for a fix for weeks now to no avail. All I keep seeing it that Apple refuses to acknowledge this issue and there are no known fixes that work. If anyone knows of a fix, please let me know.

So, until then...

FORGET YOU!

Artwork Update

I have added some new additions to my Flickr. Thanks to a wonderful person I was able to acquire Photoshop once again. I have been doing some pinups for my portfolio. They are a mixture of some 2D and 3D artwork. Between adjusting lighting, posing people, composing the scene, smoothing and manually highlighting and shadowing in Photoshop it's a lot of work but well worth it!

Photography Update

I think my photos keep getting better. Mind you I am doing this with an iPhone! I took a little care in bringing out the colors in Photoshop, some of them were just so beautiful I didn't have to do anything to. I also uploaded larger images.

Ahhhhh, the Rain!

After an 8 day heatwave rain never felt so good. On my way out to the laundromat I simply stood on my porch in the downpour not caring how soaked my clothing got! I was completely drenched... Good thing I had some towels with me!

Damien snapped this lovely shot with my iPhone. I blurred out a little of the background. You can see a little bit of my car in the background.

It's the Bird!

Recently we have re-inherited my husband's parrot. The house he was staying in in CT is being sold and the person that was taking care of him was unable to keep him where he was moving so the birdie is now back with us.

His name is Canyou (Canyou shut up?!). He is a large yellow nape amazon parrot. Apparently these guys are endangered so its impossible to buy them anymore. He LOVES to talk and is quite a character. He even has arguments with himself in male and female voices. I will grab a video of him sometime for you because it's just way too funny!

He has some very luxurious accomodations. We acquired a six foot parrot cage off Craig's list for an unbeatable price of $180. He's got some great toys that he has already been chewing into shreds and gets spoiled with lots of fresh local produce. I'd say he's been pretty happy, especially judging by his behavior.

Blast from the Past

I'm not sure how old this photo is but it's probably from when I was around the age of 18 or so. Yes, I used to have red hair. I can't believe how skinny I was back then! Over the years you acquire a bit of extra fluff. It really inspires me to get back into the shape I used to be when I was younger.

The photography is by a good friend photography Mark Edwards. He is probably the only man on this earth besides my husband that I trust to do photography of me.
